St Gregory’s Pilgrimage to Italy April 2020


Price: £1,040 per person sharing a twin/double room on a half board basis. Single rooms are available at a supplement of £145. Price includes return airfare including hold baggage, accommodation as detailed in the itinerary, all transport whilst in Italy, services of professional guides, gratuities and all entrance fees. Price does not include lunches, drinks or items of a personal nature. Please note that this itinerary is not suitable for the less able traveller.  Deposit of £250 and completed booking form required by 20.06.2019 with balance and any single supplement due by 20.01.2020.

Day One – Monday 20th April 2020 Our departure will be from Edinburgh Airport to Venice where we will meet our bus and be taken to our  3* hotel in Padua. After checking in we are free to have a stroll in this beautiful town.  We meet again for dinner.

Day two – Tuesday, 21st April 2020  After breakfast we leave the hotel for a whole day tour of Padua stopping first at the Cathedral where St Gregory’s remains are interred.  Here we celebrate Mass.  We then move on to the Basilica of St Anthony where we can see all the stunning Renaissance artwork in the chapels and visit the relics of St Anthony which reside here. We break for lunch before going on to visit the Cappella degli Scrovegni which houses Giotto’s frescoes telling the story of Christ from the Annunciation to Ascension.  We are then free to enjoy Padua before meeting again for dinner.  Our overnight accommodation is in our hotel.

Day three – Wednesday, 22nd April 2020  After breakfast the group travel to Bergamo.  Here we visit the Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.  We move on to the Seminary where we celebrate Mass.  We break for lunch and the early afternoon is free to explore Bergamo.  We leave late afternoon to drive to Verona where you might like to visit Juliet’s balcony and enjoy a drink before have dinner in a local restaurant after which we return to our hotel in Padua.

Day four – Thursday, 23rd April 2020  After breakfast we leave for a whole day in Venice.  We visit Palazzo Minotto Barbarigo, a 15th century palace on the Grand Canal which was the birthplace of Gregorio Barbarigo.  We move on to the church of Santa Maria del Giglio where we will celebrate Mass. We break for lunch before visiting the famous Cathedral of San Marco where St Gregory was ordained.    The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy beautiful Venice.  We return to Padua for dinner and overnight accommodation in our hotel.

Day five – Friday, 24th April 2020 After breakfast we check out of the hotel and the make our way to the airport for our return flight to the Edinburgh.
